Lately I've been drawing a lot of traditional art. I find the physicality of it very nice. With AI making me even less motivated then I already was, it nice to make something "real". At the moment I really enjoy prisma colored pencil and felt ink pens. For the pens i generally use 0.05-0.5mm, using larger pens for outlines and foreground stuff and smaller pens for backgrounds and details. But I've also been exploring fountain pens, I want to get some traditional manga pens to use. The downside of ink tho is how permanent it is. But surprisingly it's also a benefit, I'm more willing to let small mistakes go. It's made me realize that a lot of the mistakes I worried about in the past just weren't a big deal a lot of the time lol. Another thing that traditional art has made me realize, is just how much I over used zoom and how it messed with my perspective. It's hard to get a sense of scale with digital art for me, all screens are different so I never had a sense of scale. This made it difficult not to worry about making lineart perfect at 5000% lol. I have nothing against digital art of course, I've just found traditional art more fufilling lately.

If anyone has any tips, or wants to talk about traditional art feel free to leave a Comment. I'd love to hear people's favorite mediums and what they find most satisfying about the process, personally I love the feeling of holding my art in my hands after I hit milestones.

I don't post progress reports or sketches here but I do on my [BlueSky] account. If that interests you feel free to follow me.

As much as i like newgrounds its pretty terrible for reading comics. I really wish there way to bundle several uploads into something you can easily flip through with the arrow keys or something. seems like the best method is to link the next and previous page in the comments but its not great for reading.

Man when i post on twitter reception is cold as hell, on the other hand when i post here i get a lot more feedback. At this point the only reason i post on twitter anymore is a small hope that someone famous will retweet something LOL.

I wonder how people find communities of artists. I'd love to do art things with other ppl but the groups I'm a part of aren't very interested. finding groups on twitter is difficult because the site designed to isolate you and instead push you towards famous people, and maybe its just me but newgrounds is lacking in social features making meeting new people somewhat difficult (unless im missing something). It kinda makes me miss Deviant Art of all things, because they had a nice group feature that allowed for little pocket communities, unfortunately DA isn't great for NSFW lol

Well, what can you do i suppose.
